Whether you're booking your first professional photoshoot or you're a returning client, it’s always helpful to know exactly what the process looks like—from the first message to the moment your gallery is delivered. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at what working with me is really like.

Initial Contact/Inquiry

Reaching Out

It all begins when you reach out through my Contact Page. Whether you're ready to book or simply have questions, this is where the conversation starts. After receiving your message, I’ll personally respond with a pricing guide, answers to any questions you’ve included, and an invitation to chat further. This first step is all about getting to know what you’re looking for, what kind of session might be the best fit, and beginning to shape the experience around your vision.

Consultation & Confirmation

Consultation & Vision Planning

Next, we’ll schedule a consultation—either in-person if you’re in the Austin area, or via video call if you're not. These calls give us a chance to talk through your goals for the session, what styles you’re drawn to, what kind of location you love, and any specific ideas you want to bring to life. We’ll also discuss packages, potential add-ons, timelines, and how the overall process works from start to finish.

I’ll send you a brief questionnaire so I can tailor everything to you personally—whether it’s a graduation session, a portrait shoot, or a just-because kind of moment. This step is all about connection, clarity, and making sure we’re aligned creatively and logistically.

Making It Official

Once we’ve had a chance to talk through the details, I’ll send you a personalized proposal that includes your contract, invoice, and session breakdown. Your date is officially reserved once the retainer is paid and the contract is signed!

From there, you’ll receive a confirmation email welcoming you to the Aja Captures experience. There you will receive the Welcome Packet. This digital guide includes everything you need to feel confident heading into your session—style inspiration, tips on what to wear (and what to avoid), a rundown of what to bring, and answers to frequently asked questions. My goal is to make sure you feel prepped but not overwhelmed—this should be fun, not stressful!

Shoot day

Now, for the fun part! This is where all of our planning turns into something real. I always arrive early to get settled and scout the best lighting, so everything is ready to go when you arrive. Whether you’re a natural in front of the camera or you’ve never had a professional photo taken before, I’ll guide you every step of the way. I use simple prompts and gentle direction to help you feel at ease and look like your true self—not stiff or overly posed.

By the end of the session, my hope is that you not only feel confident, but that you actually enjoyed the process.

Delivery

Editing & Image Delivery

After our shoot, I return to the editing room to hand-edit each image in my signature style. The turnaround time depends on the type of session, but we’ll discuss that during your consultation so you’ll know exactly when to expect your gallery.

Once your gallery is ready, you’ll receive an email with a private link and download instructions. Your images will be delivered in an online gallery where you can save them, share them, and even order high-quality prints, albums, and keepsakes directly from the platform.

Wrapping Up

From the first message to the final delivery, my goal is to make this experience easy, meaningful, and memorable for you. I’m here to support you every step of the way—whether that’s helping you choose what to wear, guiding you during the shoot, or helping you decide how to display your photos in your home.

If you’re ready to get started, I’d love to hear your story and create something beautiful together. Let me know if you'd like this turned into a branded PDF version, or if you'd like help writing more blog posts in the same tone!
